The Bulls have been winning games recently they may have had no reason to be winning, getting off to sluggish starts and relying on Derrick Rose to will them back into games. That caught up with them last night in a 97-85 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at the United Center. Rose was 12-24 from the field for 31 points, but he also had 10 turnovers as the Sixers ran at the Bulls and attacked the basket all night. Sixers swingman Andre Iguodala was all over Luol Deng, holding Deng to 10 points. Iguodala scored 19 points. the Sixers were led by reserve guard Teddy Young's 21 points.
The Blackhawks traveled to Hockeytown last night to fight for their playoff lives and made it count, beating the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in a tense contest. Marian Hossa had the game winner on a power play goal less than a minute into the overtime period. It was Hossa's first goal against his former team since he signed with the Blackhawks. Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook scored first period goals for the Hawks, who maintain their grip on the final playoff slot in the Western Conference. Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi made the game more personal than it already was when he received a five-minute game misconduct penalty for elbowing Blackhawks forward Ryan Johnson. Bertuzzi personally apologized to Johnson after the game and the NHL, after reviewing the hit, determined no further disciplinary action was merited.
