Goose Island's purchase by inBev/Anheuser-Busch is still stirring some passionate debate. Indeed, it's made national news and, among craft brewers, it was a shot heard 'round the world.

The Feast's Alex Vallis had a chance to speak with Dogfish Head's Sam Calagione at Mario Batali's Eataly in New York. Calagione was there to showcase beer and sausage pairings for Eataly's May rooftop opening with Teo Musso of Birra Baladin and Birra del Borgo's Leonardo di Vincenzo, when Vallis asked him about the A-B/Goose Island deal.

Anybody who's viewed Beer Wars knows that Calagione wears his craft beer independence on his sleeve. While Calagione is very diplomatic in his answer to Vallis, the meaning behind his words is still clear as crystal: he'll never make that kind of deal.
