Free Stuff: Bake Sale for Japan with truffle truffle

By Anthony Todd in Food on Mar 31, 2011 3:20PM

2011_3_31BakeSale.jpg The list of places running events to support Japan relief keeps on growing and growing - a testament to the Chicago food community's committment to charity and helping others. This Saturday, you can participate in one of these events without having to drop $100 on a dinner ticket - and you can come away with some pretty awesome baked goods. truffle truffle, a friend of the site, in partnership with A Perfect Event, are hosting the only Illinois event in the National Bake Sale for Japan Series. Guests will be able to sample treats from truffle truffle and sip afternoon tea, and make whatever donations to relief efforts that they want. 100% of the proceeds will go to Peace Winds Japan.

The Bakesale uses one of our favorite quotes - inspiration that is necessary in times of crisis. Howard Zinn once wrote that "Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world." Especially when those small acts involve treats, who could disagree? The list of treats from truffle truffle is making our mouths water at our desks. If these don't convince you to come in on a Saturday afternoon and donate, we're not sure what will.
