Here's an Opening Day treat for you, courtesy of Rick Klein of Fuzzy Memories and the Museum of Classic Chicago Television. Klein has posted WTTW and the Organic Theater Company's 1979 teleplay of Bleacher Bums in its entirety. The play, written collaboratively by Organic ensemble members based on an idea of Joe Mantegna, captures the spirit and energy of Wrigley Field's bleachers before they became the most sought-after seats in the ballpark.

Klein said it's the first time in 25 years that Bleacher Bums has been seen, which strikes us as surprising; we could have sworn we watched a viewing of it on tv a few years back. it also reminds us of a time when we rooted for the Cubbies. Twelve years in Bridgeport is a long time.
