Rogers Park Woman's Decomposed Body Found in Home

2011_4_1_hoarding.JPG Here's a stomach-churning story coming out of Rogers Park. Police have discovered the decomposed body of an 80-year-old woman in the apartment she shared with her son on the 2000 block of West Morse, buried under garbage piled so high it almost touched the ceiling.

Police were called to the apartment of Cecylia Opilka responding to a wellness check called in by neighbors who said they hadn't seen her in over a year. When police arrived at Opilka's apartment, they could barely force the door open because of the amount of garbage inside. Opilka's son Ronald, 43, was arrested for misdemeanor drug possession yesterday when a small bag of pot fell from his pocket as he was removing his wallet to prove identification.
