Judge Denies Blago's Request for Retrial Delay

It looks as though Judge James Zagel isn't suffering fools gladly. The fool in this case being Rod Blagojevich. Zagel rejected the Blagojevich team's motion to delay the start of his retrial and jury selection will begin as planned next Wednesday.

Sheldon Sorosky, who's heading Blagojevich's legal team for Round 2, filed the delay saying that they had to address pretrial motions from prosecutors instead of actually preparing for the retrial. Zagel rejected the motion on the grounds that between the end of the first trial and now the prosecution has streamlined their case and there was "virtually nothing new" for Sorosky and company to address.

the motion highlighted a litany of pretrial motions brought before Zagel by Sorosky today as part of Blagojevich's apparent "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" defense.
