It may have taken Canasta five years to release their sophomore effort, The Fakeout, The Tease And The Breather (May 2010), but when they did, they really hit the ground running. Along with a whole lot of touring, the orchestral indie pop act won Deli Chicago's Best of 2010 fans' poll. They also recently released a video for the single “Appreciation” and have already scheduled their next video shoot. This time it’ll be for the single “Mexico City” off The Fakeout, and Canasta are searching for 30-40 fans to serve as extras.

The video shoot goes down tomorrow, Saturday April 16, from 2-6 p.m. at the ReBuilding Exchange’s new location (2160 N Ashland). Local artist Eduardo Cintron will direct the video, and he asks that extras dress in simple black, fairly non-descript clothes. Anyone interested should shoot an email over to info@canastamusic.com.

In other Canasta news, the band will be performing May 13 at the Empty Bottle for Deli Magazine’s Best Emerging Artists showcase. Since Canasta won the poll that elicited this show, they’ll be headlining. Also playing will be runners up Dastardly, Soft Speaker, and Secret Colours. In the meantime, enjoy the aforementioned video for “Appreciation”:

Canasta plays Friday, May 13, at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western, 9:30 p.m., $10, 21+
