Grahamwich Revisited

Grahamwich changed over to a new menu on April 1st, booting many of the sandwiches on the original menu and replacing them with the likes of Wagyu beef and a lamb gyro. Previously, all the prices on sandwiches were $10, but now they range between $7 and $10. We stopped in to check out the new eats and find out if Grahamwich worked out the limited kinks we identified at its opening.
Sandwiches!
Overall, the sandwiches at Grahamwich are still quite good, especially considering that the price is lower on many of them than they were before. But there were some problems. We tried the new wagyu beef. It had some really lovely elements, like the arugula and really excellent grainy mustard. The beef itself isn't a knockout, and we would have liked it better warm. Same goes for the pretzel roll. We also went with a menu mainstay, the grilled cheese with prosciutto and tomato marmalade. It was very tasty, albeit messy. We are wary of things that leave huge grease spots behind, but the curds and crispy bread made for a very satisfying sandwich. This one is on our recommended list as long as you have a fistful of napkins.
The Extras:
The mysterious "juices" section of the menu is gone. There are now two sizes of popcorn available, at $3 and $5. We gave the orange ginger soda a spin, to discover that it really is just orange soda. Boo hoo. The soft serves at the moment ($4) are vanilla bean with nutella, bananas, and marshmallow fluff, and cinnamon stick with pie crust, caramel, and apples. We gave the cinnamon stick a go and it was really fun. The pie crust bits were flaky and very good.
Seating and Speed:
Grahamwich is, it's safe to say, still packed. Expect to wait at least 10-15 minutes at the counter before getting your sandwich and elbowing a few grandmas and baby strollers out of the way at the community table. One thing Grahamwich could definitely use more of is seating. We sincerely hope that outdoor patio seating is in the works for the coming warm months. Grahamwich seems to be a beacon for the dreaded lingerers... you know, the people who have clearly finished their food and drink and are content to just take up real estate for an hour or two while other people, sandwiches in hand, hover with plaintive stares and rumbling stomachs. But this is a celebrity chef spot, and those lingerers planned to make a day of it, damn it! Our best advice is to make the lingerers uncomfortable by offering to clear their places, or standing with your tray directly above their heads, dropping little pieces of your truffle oil popcorn onto their hair. Works like a charm.
Oh, and did we tell you they accept credit cards now? That’s so money (literally). We like it.
