Afternoon Box Score: White Sox Woes Continue in Detroit

By Chuck Sudo in News on Apr 24, 2011 7:30PM

If putting up goose eggs on the scoreboard was the measure of a baseball team's success, then the White Sox would be running away with the AL Central at this point. The Sox' woes at the plate continued today in a 3-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers. Sox fans couldn't ask for more from John Danks, who was tagged with the loss but pitched well. But the story of this White Sox tailspin has been the offense. Juan Pierre and A.J. Pierzynski were the only hitters who could solve Tigers starter Max Scherzer. The Sox were shut out for the second consecutive game and managed to score only three runs in being swept by Detroit. Ozzie Guillen and his crew now have a stranglehold on the AL Central.
