Spaghetti is the theme of Flourish Bakery Café's weekly "Family Dinner" night this evening. You get your choice of marinara or meat sauce, along with Flourish's homemade baguettes. At $6 per person, this is a steal. (1138 W. Bryn Mawr, 5:30-8 p.m. or until the food runs out.)

Film

Deliverance, the film that helped make Burt Reynolds a superstar and launched an endless parade of "squeal like a piggie" jokes, still holds up well nearly 40 years after its release. The best scene in the movie is early on, when Ronny Cox's character and a local come to a brief meeting of the minds playing "Dueling Banjos." Deliverance will play tonight at 6 p.m. at the Gene Siskel Film Center (164 N. State St.)

Readings

The Moth Story Slam has its monthly residency this evening at Martyrs' (3855 N. Lincoln, 8 p.m., $8)

Music

Fulcrum Point composer-in-residence Mischa Zupko and the Fulcrum Point Brass are launching a new music cabaret at SPACE in Evanston. They'll be featuring works from Zupko as well as Freund, Woolf, Marsez and Zappa, inspired by blues, jazz and heavy metal. (1245 Chicago Ave., Evanston, 7:30 p.m., $10, $5 students)
