2011_4_27_padilla.jpg September 11th architect Khalid Sheikh Muhammad met with former Chicago gang member Jose Padilla in 2002, according to DOD memo released by Wikileaks in the latest round of documents released by the organization.

According to the document, Muhammad “directed Padilla to travel to Chicago, Illinois, rent an apartment and initiate a natural gas explosion to cause the building to collapse.” In addition, Muhammad instructed Padilla to “study the feasibility of an operation to set fire to a hotel or gas station in the US.”

When Padilla flew to Chicago in 2002, he was arrested at O’Hare, designated an enemy combatant, suspected of plotting to explode a dirty bomb somewhere in the U.S. Padilla was detained for three and a half years until a federal jury found him guilty of conspiracy to “murder, kidnap and maim.”

At present, Wikileaks has published 151 of the 779 files on Guantanamo prisoners.
