Wine is always a big hit for Mother's Day, which comes on May 8th this year. And yeah, that is soon. We're giving you the heads up so you can buy tickets to an event or have time to noodle about the perfect wine-themed gift for your mom.

If your mother:

Listens to elevator music for fun:

Chicago's own smooth jazz fox Rick O'Dell from Jazz Radio 87.7 WLFM-FM will be broadcasting live from the Mother's Day brunch at the Arlington Heights Ballroom from 11:00am-2:00pm on Mother's Day. You'd better drive, because they're giving the moms unlimited champagne and interviewing them on the radio. $48 will get you a ticket, which includes the champagne, gourmet culinary offerings from the Ballroom's head chef, and the debut of the "North Shore Cake Boss" pastry chef Joseph LoChirco. You can score tickets by calling (847) 870-8787 ext. 200.

Throws a lot of parties:

Consider buying or making your mother some wine charms for a gift. Wine charms are small charms or beads on rings that can be placed around the stem of a wine glass at a party, helping its owner to identify it and prevent disgusting drinking-from-another-person's-glass scenarios. It's pretty easy to make your own, and your mom will think it's soooooo cuuuuute that you did it yourself.

Isn’t lactose intolerant:

Provenance Food & Wine's Lincoln Square shop is hosting a wine and cheese pairing. Class size is limited to 10 people, and cost is $30 per person ($25 for wine club members). Treat your mom to a ticket and spend some time with her in the class. Participants receive 15% off any purchases made the evening of the event, a goody bag to take home, and wine and cheese to sample during the class. Contact nicole@provenancefoodandwine.com for tickets, or you can call the shop to reserve your space with a credit card. 773-784-2314. Provenance Food and Wine is located at 2312 W. Leland Avenue.

Loves Bob Ross:

Bottle & Bottega (which is a BYOB) wants you to celebrate Mother's Day with them with a brunch buffet from 10:00am - 11:00am and painting from 11:00am-1:00pm. All paint supplies, aprons, a 16x20 canvas, and an artist's guidance will be provided. You can bring your own bottle of champagne and they will have orange juice available for mimosas. The brunch will have lemon-stuffed French toast with blueberry syrup, vegetable quiche, salmon platters, grilled asparagus, and melon compote. AKA, everything your mom loves. Tickets can be purchased online here. Cost is $60 per head. The studio is located at 2900 N. Lincoln Ave.

Just wants to party:

Just get her a couple of bottles of Chardonnay. Serve with ice cubes. Repeat.
