Spring Cocktail Dinner at the Drawing Room

By Roger Kamholz in Food on May 3, 2011 7:20PM

2011_5_DR_local_dinner2.jpgThe Drawing Room's chief mixologist, Charles Joly, and chef, Nick Lacasse, are collaborating on a special four-course cocktail dinner on Thursday, May 12, to welcome the dawning spring season. Each food course will be paired with a complementary cocktail, all of which will feature a host of locally sourced ingredients.

The skinny on the food: expect pork chops from Becker Lane Farm in Dyersville, Iowa, as well as rare, locally grown produce such as fiddleheads and ramps. For the cocktails, Joly and his crew will be mixing with spirits from small-batch Midwestern producers, including Death's Door Spirits in Madison, Wisconsin, and Lake Bluff's North Shore Distillery.

The dinner also coincides with World Cocktail Week, a yearly celebration of cocktail history and mixology instituted by the Museum of the American Cocktail. Some proceeds from the Spring Cocktail Dinner will go toward supporting the New Orleans-based nonprofit in its efforts to educate the public about the rich lore and craft of American cocktail-making.

The Drawing Room's Spring Cocktail Dinner costs $70 per person and begins at 7 p.m. Seating is limited. More details are here. Call (312) 266-2694 for reservations.

The Drawing Room is located at 937 North Rush Street.
