Writers Roundtable

Windy City Distribution is sponsoring a Chicago Mystery writer's discussion at Sheffield's from 6-9 p.m. Join Chicago mystery authors Michael Harvey, Libby Fischer Hellman, Frances Dean McNamara and scholar Bill Savage for a panel discussion on how and where they conduct background research for their novels using local libraries & archives.

Archivists from the National Archives at Chicago will be on hand to highlight their holdings. Books by the authors will be available for purchase and signing after the event. (3258 N. Sheffield)

The folks behind the "Stop the Lakeview/Lincoln Park Wal-Mart" Facebook page are trying to get the word out about a screening of the documentary Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices at Landmark Century Center at 7:30 p.m. Done.

Readings

Come celebrate the love of language and New Comic Book Wednesday with Vintage Lounge's exclusive, monthly spoken word event! Featured guests include comic book creator Dave Losso and The Great Sandwich Detective Players (acting out an episode of the locally created The Great Sandwich Detective comic), longstanding Chicago poet and novelist CJ Laity, hip hop artist Lyrical and punk-pop musical poets, naughtiekittie returning after a five-year absence! Host Brian Kirst may be even throwing on some green face and reading from his Incredible Hulk comic collection, as well. So, grab your favorite DC (or Marvel) action figure and come on down to Little Italy. The event is totally free. (1449 W. Taylor, 8-11 p.m.)
