Neon Marshmallow Fest Announces Fundraiser Cassette, Daily Line-Ups

By Jon Graef in Arts & Entertainment on May 5, 2011 8:20PM

So it turns out that, much like pimping, putting together a three-day experimental music festival ain't easy. But adages aren't enough to keep the enterprising folks at Neon Marshmallow Festival down, even if, as co-runner Matt Kimmel told us via email in March, "The festival really not aimed to be a big money maker, we are just putting together a festival of artists we love ... The risk of financial loss is still very real this time around. We are very excited about this year's version and all we can do is hope that other people in town are similarly excited."

So what can you, as music fans, do to show your excitement? Buy a tape.

Kimmel sent out a Facebook message Wednesday announcing a Neon Marshmallow tape aimed at raising funds for the fest. According to the message, the tape will be pro-dubbed and features all unreleased tracks from festival performers. Here's a list of who's on the tape so far:

Leslie Keffer
Lucky Dragons
Mike Shiflet
Outer Space
Pulse Emitter
Sickness
Spiral Joy Band
Telecult Powers
Tiger Hatchery
White Rainbow

The pre-sale for the cassette is up at the Neon Marshmallow Fest website, where you can still buy individual or weekend passes for the festival, taking place at the Empty Bottle from June 10-12. Single day tix are $25, and weekend passes are $70. Daily line-ups have also been posted, and you can see them here. Nothing says summer like soundscapes!
