Choate Stepmother Charged, Pleads Not Guilty

Kimberly Choate, the former stepmother of Christian Choate, also pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with the boy's death in 2009. Kimberly Choate, aka Kimberly Kubina, is charged with murder, battery, neglect and criminal confinement, along with her ex-husband and Christian's father, Riley Choate.

More details of Christian Choate's final days have emerged, courtesy of his sister. She told prosecutors that she was the only one responsible for Christian's well-being, such as it was since he was allegedly confined to a cage. She also said she was forced to beat him while Kimberly Choate recorded the beating. On April 4, 2009 Christian Choate refused to eat, prompting Riley Choate to allegedly punch him numerous times in the head and throw him back in the cage. Christian died the next day.
