Chicago author Kelly O'Connor McNees will be at the Book Stall in Winnetka tonight to read from her book The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott, a fictionalized history of the woman made famous by Little Women. Christine Sneed, author of short story collection Portraits Of a Few People I’ve Made Cry will also be reading. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and is free. (811 Elm St., Winnetka)

Food and Drink

Green City Market’s Junior Board's Meet the Market series continues today at Old Town Social (455 W. North Ave., 6-8 p.m.). This series pairing a GCM vendor with the a restaurant that uses their produce features Mick Klug Farm. Mick will be there to answer questions, talk about his farm, and just pick your brain about any and everything about local food. Old Town Social Chef Jared Van Camp will be offering $10 cocktails including "Fraise Sauvage" with Death's Door Gin, Mick Klug Farms Strawberries (preserved from last year), and Champagne; "Peach Smash" with Death's Door White Whiskey, Mick Klug Farms Peach Jam, Fresh Ginger and Mint, and special dishes like "Ham and Asparagus Spears" with Housemade Country Ham, Klug Asparagus; "Goat Cheese Biscuits" w/ Buttermilk Biscuits, Prairie Fruits Farm Goat Cheese, Klug Farms Strawberry-Pinot Noir Jam.

Music

It's an evening of Black Metal from Ontario tonight at Reggie's as Woods of Ypres headlines a triple bill that includes south side metal act Intercontinentalballisticmissile and psych rock trio Killer Moon. (8 p.m., 17+ show, tickets $15 at the door or $10 in advance by purchasing here.)
