Morning Box Score: White Sox Hold Off A's

Things have definitely started to turn around for the White Sox, winners of 5 out of their last 6 after suffering through a 4-18 stretch. The Sox were able to hold off the Oakland Athletics 4-3 Friday night.

Omar Vizquel had an RBI double in the second inning while Phil Humber pitched into the seventh. Humber gave up 3 runs and 6 hits and didn't walk a batter the first time in 7 starts this season.

The Sox had a four-run second inning, and didn't see much offensive action after that, managing only five hits throughout the game.

Their defense is what saved them; especially after a stellar play from Matt Thornton and A.J. Pierzynski at home plate. Leading off the eighth inning with a single, Coco Crisp stole second, went to third on a groundout, then broke for home in the middle of Thornton's windup. Pierzynski caught the pitch, tagging out the gutsy baserunner.

Sergio Santos wrapped up the ninth for his fourth save in as many chances.
