Your Morning Wake-Up Call for May 14, 2011

Good Morning, everyone, on the birthday of the late Mayor William Hale Thompson, who was never above using ethnic slurs during election campaigns (He once said of Anton Cermak, "Tony, Tony, where's your pushcart at? Can you picture a World's Fair mayor? With a name like that? "). Richard Daley's last full day as mayor was yesterday. For a lot of you, a Chicago without a Mayor Daley is a new thing to experience. It gets better. The weather won't today, however. It turned on us in the afternoon like an angry drunk and has stayed that way ever since. Shorts have been replaced by pants, t-shirts by longer sleeves and wram sunshine by clouds, rain and a predicted high of 51 degrees by Skilling Central.
