Blago to Take Stand

By Chuck Sudo in News on May 19, 2011 9:20PM

We've been paying attention to the Rod Blagojevich retrial waiting for something interesting to happen, since most of it has been a rehash of the original trial minus the bombast of Sam Adam, Jr. Now that ABC 7 is citing sources in reporting that Blago will take the stand in his own defense, business just picked up. Whatever happens, here's hoping Blago on the stand will not be dull.

Blago has long maintained his innocence to the press and anyone who was near him. His Brother Robert believes he can be his own best defense. Taking the stand also allows Blagojevich to control what portions of the hundreds of hours of wiretap recordings can be played to prove his innocence, something that Judge James Zagel has repeatedly reminded Blagojevich and his legal team during both trials.
