"One for the Road:" Elmore James

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on May 24, 2011 9:40PM

We mentioned this morning that Elmore James died on this date in 1963. The "King of the Slide Guitar" has a unique slide playing style and vocal phrasing that served as an inspiration to generations of blues singers following in his footsteps, and a proclivity for moonshine that may have hastened his demise. We could play "Dust My Broom," but that would be too easy. Let's play something else, instead.
