David Headley, the star witness in the terrorism trial of his associate Tanhawwur Rana, offered detailed testimony of how he and Rana helped plan the 208 Mumbai terror plot and that both of them were satisfied with their handiwork.
"I was pleased," Headley said matter-of-fact on the witness stand, describing how he felt as the news of the plot spread and the death toll mounted. Headley also testified that Rana expressed that India "deserved" what happened. Headley's testimony detailed how he and members of the Pakistani-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba helped plan the attacks, along with rana and even some Pakistani intelligence officers. Rana's lawyers are trying to convince the jury that Headley used Rana's travel business as a front for planning the attacks without Rana's knowledge. But Headley testified that Rana was more than willing to assist.
