Unicycle Loves You Teases With Demo

By Sarah Cobarrubias in Arts & Entertainment on May 26, 2011 4:40PM

Eight months since the release of their sophomore album, Mirror Mirror, Unicycle Loves You have announced their third release. Failure won’t be dropped until early 2012, but the band has been writing new material for the past six months. And in anticipation of the upcoming album, they’ve shared a demo of a new track, “Magic Marker Blackout.”

The demo shows the band sticking with the same type of power pop hooks and catchy vocal melodies that worked for them in the past. It’s janglier and rawer than the Unicycle Loves You we’ve come to know, but that doesn’t mean much since it’s still an early, unpolished demo.

Failure will be the band’s first release on the new, Brooklyn-Based label Mecca Lecca (their previous albums are available through Highwheel Records). To further spread word of the upcoming album, the band will debut more of their new material two weeks from today, June 8 at Schubas. Unicycle Loves You will open for Seattle-base indie rocker Telekinesis, who is touring in support of his sophomore album. In the meantime, here’s that demo:
