Morning Box Score: Pierre Wins One for Sox

By Chuck Sudo in News on May 27, 2011 3:20PM

White Sox 3, Blue Jays 1

Juan Pierre has received his fair share of criticism for the White Sox' slow start this season, for both his poor hitting and his deficiencies in the outfield. Pierre wound up being the hero, with an assist from Toronto third baseman John McDonald, at the Rogers Center last night. Pierre hit an infield single off Blue Jays reliever Marc Rzepczynski, scoring Alex Rios. A McDonald error on the play scored Gordon Beckham as an insurance run for Sergio Santos's eighth save of the season. White Sox starter Phil Humber pitched well enough to win over 7.2 innings, but got the no-decision instead. Pierre's single made a winner of Jese Crain.
