Restaurant News: North Shore Releases New Spirit, Rick Bayless Makes Granola

-Time Out announced yesterday that North Shore Distillery, a Chicagoist favorite, will be announcing a new addition to their line-up. Sol Chamomile Citrus Vodka will hit shelves on June 1. "We wanted it to be a fun, not so serious, really delicious spirit that is accessible to a broad range of people," says co-owner Sonja Kassebaum. This isn't one of their super-secret limited edition spirits, so it will be available permanently.
- Rick Bayless is making granola! Grub Street Chicago clued us into a new collaboration between Bayless and Milk and Honey Granola - a "Mexican Mix." The mix will include amarenth, honey, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and cacao nibs.
- Stephanie Izard is learning to use Skype. And she's a little worried about how she looks - don't worry, Steph, Skype gives EVERYONE a strange-looking chin. According to her Twitter on Wednesday, she "skyped for the first time today! note to self: never go on a skype date. worst angle ever." It included a link to a cute picture of Chef Izard talking at a laptop.
- Eater Chicago reports that a new Italian restaurant is opening in Lakeview. "Taverna 750" will be taking over the space that used to house Cornelias, and will be making liqours in-house and hiring Charles Joly to design the drink menu. We're sold.
