Morning Box Score: Cubs Salvage One Versus Pirates
By Chuck Sudo in News on May 30, 2011 2:00PM
The Cubs had to sit out the rain along with the rest of us yesterday, but once they and the Pirates finally took to the field, Ryan Dempster continued his strong pitching of late. Dempster earned his fourth win of the season with six innings of two-run ball and Aramis Ramirez ended a streak of 155 at-bats without a home run, the second-longest streak of his career. Dempster closed out May with a 3-1 record and looks nothing like the pitcher who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn to start the season.
The Cubs have a 1:20 date with the Astros at Wrigley Field today. The White Sox bring their Caravan of Woe to Fenway Park to kick off a series with Boston at 6:30 p.m.
