Reminder: Slutwalk Chicago Tomorrow

Back in April Samantha Abernethy wrote about tomorrow's Slutwalk Chicago. The event is an outgrowth of a successful event in Toronto that was assembled after a representative of that city's Police Service was quoted as saying, "Women should avoid dressing like sluts in order to not be victimized."
The mission of the event is thus:
- It's not about hate.
- They're looking to bring a greater awareness to sexual assault, not solely rape.
- They aren't framing sexual assault as something solely done by men to women.
- Women are most often the targets and men are most often the perpetrators, but all genders are affected. SlutWalk recognizes all gender expressions as those that have been and can be negatively impacted.
- Some communities/people are at a higher risk of sexual assault than others based on their class status, work, ability, access and resources, race, identity, trans status and a variety of other factors. Organizers aim to recognize this and come together, in all diversity, as people who are all affected.
- Inclusive and respectful language will be utilized when discussing the diversity of people affected: men/women and all gender expressions, racialized communities, people of different abilities, etc.
- SlutWalk is an impassioned and peaceful stance that aims to engage others in dialogue.
The walk starts at noon from the Thompson Center and heads east on Randolph, south on Michigan (along Grant Park), west on Jackson, and north along Clark Street to a final rally at Daley Plaza.
