2011_06_HighFidelity.jpg Quenchers is preparing for next week’s launch of Soundtrack Serenade, a musical series that caters to both local music fans and movie buffs. The second Tuesday of every month, a different movie soundtrack will be performed from start to finish by a local band. The whole thing kicks off next Tuesday at the Logan Square bar, with local cover band Androgynous Mustache performing the soundtrack of High Fidelity.

This Chicago-centric classic is an appropriate selection to start the series. Besides being shot largely in Wicker Park, it stars Chicago mainstay John Cusack as the movie’s broken-hearted record geek protagonist. And it has a stunning soundtrack featuring an eclectic mix of songs, from Stereolab’s “Lo Boob Oscillator” to Stevie Wonder’s “I Believe” to The Kinks’ “Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy.” Tough collection for one band to cover.

Accompanying the live soundtrack, the movie will be playing behind the band as they perform. And film trivia will be incorporated into the night’s festivities, offering guests the chance to win apparel, shots, and whatever else they feel like giving away. Keep your eye on Quenchers for info on future installments of Soundtrack Serenades.

Soundtrack Serenade Kicks off Tuesday, June 14 at Quenchers, 2401 N Western, 9 p.m., $5 Donation, 21+
