Flash Flood Warnings Throughout Area

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jun 9, 2011 1:05PM

These storms have brought a welcome cooldown, but for some parts of the area the heavy rains have also brought flash flood warnings, specifically the southern part of the area.

Joliet received 3.5 inches of rain, with parts of Kendall and Will Counties reporting up to five inches of precipitation. A flash flood warning was in effect for southern Cook County, Lee, southern DuPage, southern DeKalb, northern Grundy, Will, southern Ogle, northern LaSalle, Kendall and southern Kane counties until 11:30 a.m.

ComEd has reported 59,000 customers without power as of 6 a.m. and with a 50 percent chance of rain throughout the day, we're expecting travel times and delays at both O'Hare and Midway.
