Morning Box Score: Zambrano Pitches Like He's In AAA, Santos Blows Sure Sox Win

Last night Carlos Zambrano had no one to blame but himself. With a bullpen that was gassed from the night before, Zambrano struggled through 6-1/3 innings, threw 128 pitches, earned his 1,500 strikeout and gave up seven runs, including a Placido Polanco grand slam. The Cubs stormed back with five runs in their half of the 7th inning, but Phillies ace Roy Halladay had this game under control.
Riding a 10-game winning streak, the A's were due for a win. We just didn't expect it to be with two outs in their half of the ninth. Sergio Santos turned into butter after getting the first two outs and going 0-2 against free-swinging Josh Willingham. Santos wound up walking Willingham and the A's were off to the races. A four-run rally was capped by a bases clearing, three-run double by Scott Sizemore. Paul Konerko continued his hot streat with a two-run home run.
