Morning Box Score: Castro Clutch Versus Brewers

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jun 15, 2011 2:15PM

Cubs 5, Brewers 4 (10 Innings)

The Sox and Twins were rained out last night, so all eyes were on Wrigley Field where the Brewers seemed to have Randy Wells figured out, scattering three runs and eight hits off the Cubs starter over his six innings on the mound. The story beneath those three runs was the Brewers' inability to drive in runs last night; they were 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position and stranded 13. That was enough for the Cubs relief corps and hitters to keep the Brewers in check and chip away at the lead. Aramis Ramirez's fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth inning, tied the game. Starlin Castro sent the Cubs faithful home on a high note with a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning, giving Jeff Samardzija his second win in as many nights. The two teams lock horns again tonight. (7:05 p.m., WGN-AM720, CSN)
