Afternoon Box Score: Yankees Lose! Yankees Lose! THAAAAAAAA Yankees Lose!

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jun 17, 2011 9:30PM

Cubs 3, Yankees 1

Doug Davis and Aramis Ramirez came correct to Wrigley Field today. Davis turned in his best start of the season, pitching into the eighth inning, while Ramirez drove in two runs and played surprisingly good defense as the Cubs cooled off a Yankees team that won six of their last seven games, including a sweep of the defending AL champion Rangers. Davis only allowed three hits over 7-1/3 innings of work while going pitch for pitch with Yankees starter Freddy Garcia. Starlin Castro had an RBI double for the Cubs, while Carlos Marmol got out of a ninth inning gem thanks to some nice defense from Reed Johnson to earn the save.
