Beer Tasting

The Bavarian Lodge has set up a special treat tonight for smoked beer fans. A wooden gravity-fed cask of Aecht Schlenkerla Marzen. This is a dark, bottom fermented rauchbier, brewed with copious amounts of Schlenkerla's house smoked malt and lagered in ancient caves deep under ground. They'll be tapping this beer according to Franconian tradition, directly from the gravity-fed oakwood cask, just as it is served in the historical brewery tavern in Bamberg, Germany. The tapping commences at 6 p.m. Get there early (1800 Ogden Ave., Lisle)

Free Admission at the Shedd Aquarium

Today is the last day to take advantage of the Shedd Aquarium's free admission week. Remember: it's only limited to original galleries. Exhibits like the "Jellies" exhibit do not count.
