The Yankees are in town to face off against the Cubs today, but a much more serious NY/Chi faceoff is happening just a few blocks south of that dump at Clark and Addison. Sheffield's is hosting a Chi-Town Throwdown today, where beers from both cities will be on special, and they'll tally the sales sheets to see whose beer reigns supreme.

Since it's a nice day and any excuse to drink outside at Sheffields is a good one, go and meet representatives from Metropolitan Brewing and Finch's Beer, who will be onhand to rally the troops to their cause. Metro's Krankshaft and Finch's Cut-Throat are two of the three Illinois-based selections; Warrenville-based Two Brothers and their Cane And Abel rounds out the batting lineup for the home team.

New York is fielding Brooklyn Lager, Ommegang's Belgian Pale Ale and Smaltz Rye P.A, whose home runs will be thrown back to the field from whence they came. Today's throwdown gets started at 11:30am and runs for three hours, and God knows you're going to drink beer before the Cubs game starts at 1:20 so please take the opportunity to drink something decent.
