Morning Box Score: Cubs Fall to Yanks, Sox Bats Wake Up in the Desert

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jun 19, 2011 2:00PM

Yankees 4, Cubs 3

How's this for a number? Zero. That's the number of times this season the Cubs have won three games in a row. Yankees stars Robinson Cano and Eduardo Nunez each had RBI doubles to chase Ryan Dempster. The Cubs had a great opportunity to tie the game in the sixth inning when Carlos Pena was nailed at the plate on a double play. Pena and Reed Johnson each homered for the Cubs.

White Sox 6, Diamondbacks 3

John Danks is country tough. Danks took a Stephen Drew liner to the back of his head and kept on pitching, earning his third straight win after an 0-8 start to the season. Danks pitched seven innings. Paul Konerko stayed hot at the plate with a home run and Alex Rios jacked a three-run shot for some insurance in the eighth inning.
