If you think the Aviary is hard to get into, you are in for a shock - the new, exclusive bar underneath the Aviary just opened, and it's pretty much clear that we're not getting in any time soon. Grubstreet tipped us off to a tweet from Achatz yesterday with a picture of the space and a brief description. "Opening tonight...14 seat speakeasy-style bar under the Aviary," said Achatz.

According to an interview with the Sun-Times back in February, customers can only get in if they are personally invited by the owners or (maybe) if they book in advance - no walk-ins. The New York Times opined that it would be "among the most exclusive bars in the country." With only 14 seats, even if they decided to take reservations, it will fill up fast. It doesn't have a name (so far as we can determine) and the cocktails won't be the same wacky future-of-cocktails-on-the-planet-Venus sorts of concoctions served at Aviary. Instead, the New York Times reported back in March that the drinks would be influenced by classics and would be either shaken or stirred. If anyone gets in, let us know.
