Lollapalooza announced their first wave of aftershows (and a few preshows since a number occur before the fest's Friday kick-off). The one that will probably elicit the biggest buzz, and sell out the quickest, is Death From Above 1979's show at The Metro on Thursday, August 4. After a near riot at SXSW, and a history of hard hitting shows -- they're one of the few bands to get a huge pit going at the usually mellow Pitchfork Music Festival -- their appearance in a smaller venue is one not to be missed.
A few of the bills offer unique combinations, and one of the more interesting is the abrasive dance nihilism of Crystal Castles being preceded by the insanely sweet and catchy The Naked And the Famous at House Of Blues on August 4. And Lykke Li, riding high on the tails of her excellent Wounded Rhymes album, is slotted to play with the lowest common denominator LES dance rock of Foster The People at House of Blues on August 5, so yu can show up to that gig late and not worry about missing either of Friday's fest headliners.
Do312 has the full list here, but we'll keep an ear to the ground and clue you in if we hear anything new since more shows are sure to be announced.
Anyway, what do you think of the fest's late night offerings thus far?
