Japanese Tsunami Relief
Fountainhead (1970 W. Montrose) is putting Japanese beer, sake and whiskeys on special this evening from 5-10 p.m. Proceeds from tonight's sales will go to the Kiuchi brewery, which has been bottling water and cooking food for those who lost their homes in the march catastrophe.
Burgers and Beer
Three Aces is calling their burger and beer special tomorrow night "a revolutionary pairing." The "Bay of Pigs" burger - ground pork with house made ham, milk braised pork shoulder, gruyere cheese, pickles, golden cap-orange mustard on cuban bread with ropa vieja fries and a garlic and hops pickle - will be paired with New Holland's Farmhouse Hatter brewed with Wheat and Pilsner malts to lighten the body of this Mad Hatter version. It was also fermented hot with a strain of Belgian Saison yeast to develop flavors of green apple, pepper and fresh cut hay. (1321 W. Taylor St., 7-10 p.m., $25)
Film and Music
The popular local guitar duo of Goran Ivanovic and Andres Kapsalis will play an original score to Alfred Hitchcock's 1929 masterpiece Blackmail. The film originally was green-lighted as a silent film, but studio executives converted it into a "talkie" during production. Blackmail also contains what may be Hitchcock's lengthiest cameo in one of his own films. (Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse, 7:30 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m. Purchase tickets here.)
