Help the Glenwood Sunday Market Become "America's Favorite Farmers Market"

2011_7_5Glenwood.jpg We give a lot of love to Green City Market, but there are so many other great farmers markets in Chicago. One of our regular haunts, which we profiled last year, is the Glenwood Sunday Market in Rogers Park. Already a fixture of the community, the market doesn't just sell food - it holds classes and demonstrations and works on anti-hunger initiatives, like matching LINK funds so people on food assistance can get more for their money. And, they have a chance to be America's Favorite Farmers Market, in a contest held by the American Farmland Trust.

The American Farmland Trust, a non-profit organization that fights the development of farm and ranch land, is hosting a contest to determine the most popular farmers market in America. Despite its small size, the Glenwood has made a big push - they have over 300 votes already, the most in Chicagoland by far. In fact, they're the top in Illinois! Let's get them to the top of the nation.

For a small market without a PR budget, the prizes given through the contest could make a difference. Mostly promotional in nature, the winner gets a whole mess of things, including a feature story on Epicurious.com, promotional postcards and press assistance, and a new banner. Plus, it doesn't take much effort to go and vote.
