Openings

Today marks the opening of Bombay Spice Grill and Wine in River North (111 W. Illinois St.). That's right next door to Roka Akor, which also opens today. Bombay Spice is promising unique twist on Indian cuisine: healthy, delicious dishes in a contemporary dining environment. Chef Sunil Kumar prepares his menu items with olive oil, rather than butter or ghee, and has a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes available.

Art Exhibits

This Is Paul Halupka at Columbia College Chicago's C33 Gallery (33 E. Congress Pkwy.) charts the life of one single person, a local graphic designer, through the work of thirteen different artists. Curator Jessica Cochran told the Reader's Lauri Apple "the show critiques the manner in which the media thrust people into the spotlight. It also raises questions about the role of the curator as tastemaker or "legitimizer," since Cochran asked the participating artists to carry out a concept that meant something to her but perhaps not to them--or anyone else."
