Topinka Sets Up Pet Adoption Program

2011_7_11_comptrollers_critters.png Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka said that as the state's Cief fiscal officer she not only looks at how our tax dollars are spent, but "also want(s) to keep an eye on our four legged friends." So she's set up a rogram to make it easier for families to find pets through adoption.

Comptroller's Critters was set up to help facilitate this by partnering with pet adoption shelters throughout the state to help reduce the numbers of pets waiting to be adopted and, by extension, reduce animal control costs and reduce overpopulation in shelters.

Comptroller's Critters has a full listing of participating shelters across the state right here.
