See Food - The Edible Chicago Botanic Garden

By Anthony Todd in Food on Jul 15, 2011 3:30PM

If you've never been to the Chicago Botanic Garden, you might think it's mostly a place for flower arranging and decorative gardens. Actually, there is an entire island of the place devoted just to edible gardening - and the beauty and technical proficiency of the work is such that you'll be inspired to garden in your own backyard. They grown hundreds of heirloom varieties, maintain a full-fledged orchard, and have instructional displays on composting, beekeeping, garden tools and managing small plots. Best of all, all of the food produced is donated to charity.

The Chicago Botanic Garden is free to visit - head out this weekend and get inspired to grown your own produce. Until then, enjoy the photos of the tasty veggies growing in the sun.
