This Weekend in Street Fests

- Today's $64,000 question: how many rib fests can one city handle? We've already had RibFest. Then there was 6 Corners BBQ Fest, which we assume had a strong rib presence. This weekend brings us the Windy City Ribfest in Uptown at Lawrence and Broadway. It isn't as big as Ribfest, but they will have Rusted Root headlining the music stage tomorrow night. Feel free to just walk through on your way to Green Mill or Crew.
- A quick shot down the Red Line to Lincoln Park will take you to the Lincoln Park Arts & Music Festival on Racine, between Fullerton and Webster. The artwork of over 80 juried artists will be on display while the Explore Chicago website promises "two exciting components that will be near and dear to the typical 18-44 year-old Chicagoan, a pizza eating contest and a 'bags' tournament." Gorging on pizza and cornholing? Reads like a recipe for success.
- Sheffield Garden Walk is next week, but you can tune up for that with the Dearborn Garden Walk starting at the Latin Lower School (1531 N. Dearborn). Admission to the Garden Walk ($30 in advance until it starts tomorrow, $35 at the point of entry) gains you access to over 20 distinctive rear gardens; a narrated architectural walking tour of historic Dearborn Street; live jazz and classical performances in select gardens; and garden vignettes.
