If you had an eye toward Lake Michigan as an option to cool off, you want to move to Plan B. As of 2:45 p.m., all beaches along the lakefront except for 12th Street Beach have been closed due to low visibility.

That's not a misprint: there's a fog advisory along the lakefront on a 90-degree day. It shouldn't be shocking, given the difference between the water temperature of 72 degrees and the air temperature of 90 degrees. Those are good conditions for fog to form.

Park District spokeswoman Marta Juaniza said it's at the discretion of lifeguards to let people into the lake, but they'll err on the side of caution if their visibility is limited.
