We've seen some pretty large turtles while canoeing and kayaking the North Branch of the Chicago River, but nothing like the evolutionary throwback discovered by Friends of the Chicago River during a recent wildlife survey of the North Branch. Even more impressive, finding wildlife in the ooze of the Chicago River.
By the way, Friends of the Chicago River hosts canoe trips through downtown. Maybe you'll run across a smaller turtle if you participate. You can register here.
