Afternoon Box Score: Cubs Handle Astros with Ease

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jul 23, 2011 8:54PM

Cubs 5, Astros 1

Randy Wells made easy work of the Houston Astros todaym as well he should. The Astros, with the worst record in Major League Baseball, is the only standing between the Cubs and the NL Central cellar.

Wells struck out four in six innings of work to post his first victory in three months and received offensive support in the form of solo home runs from Marlon Byrd and Geovany Soto. The Cubs also win their first series in their last ten attempts and will look to win three straight for the first time this season tomorrow.
