Charges have been filed against a man in the murder of a Chicago Police Officer last year.
Antwon Carter
Antwon Carter, 24, was charged with the murder of Michael Bailey last July. Bailey, who was a month away from retirement, was killed during an exchange of gunfire after a botched robbery attempt. Carter was on parole for aggravated battery to another police officer at the time of the Bailey killing and was in prison for violating his parole on unrelated carjacking and weapons charges.
Police told the Tribune the break in the case came after Carter talked about the killing to other witnesses. Police also say they have handwritten lettersby Carter in which he implicates himself in Bailey's murder.
