It's a night of North Coast Beers at Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro tomorrow night as the California Brewery celebrates the release of its Grand Cru. Brewed exclusively with Pils malt, with an addition of agave nectar in the kettle. It’s subtle, complex, and lightly hopped with a deceptive 12.5% ABV, and aging it in oak gives this unique beer an extra dimension. (3905 N. Lincoln Ave., 6-9 p.m. tomorrow.)

Film

This week's screening by the Northwest Chicago Film Society is Rain. This 1932 South Seas drama adapted by a W. Somerset Maugham story stars Joan Crawford as a prostitute and Walter Huston as a minister in a classic tale of sin and salvation. That will be followed by Chapter 7 of the serial Daredevils of the Red Circle, and the 1942 Popeye cartoon Alona on the Sarong Seas. (Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee, 7:30 p.m., $5)
