Just as July is wrapping up, Chicago quartet Roommate released the video for its relaxed track, "August Song," from this year's Guilty Rainbow. Roommate mainman Kent Lambert did us the kindness of sending over the clip for "August Song," uploaded earlier this month. The video features animation and imagery from Jodie Mack, a Chicagoan who is now a professor at Dartmouth, and Emily Kuehn.
Starting with a rapid montage of still life landscapes, then moving to more surreal imagery with watercolors straight out of Monet, the five-minute video serves as a perfect visual accompaniment for the relaxed, Sgt. Peppers-esque song. Watch it above.
Roommate is about to hit the road in a smaller configuration -- just Lambert and Cody Hennesy from Chicago Bay Area band The Rhombus -- for a West Coast tour where they'll open for fellow Chicagoans Califone in Santa Barbara, CA.
Lambert is also playing a solo show tonight at Quenchers, if you're into the whole last minute plans thing. Check out our interview with Lambert from February about Roommate's cover of Guided By Voices's "Smothered In Hugs."
