CDOT Website Gives You No Excuse to Not Brush Up on Your Bike Laws

Here at Chicagoist we try to make it easier for both bicyclists and motorists to share the streets in harmony. To that end, we refer you to the Chicago Department of Transportation, which brings together all the bike traffic laws from the city and state in one convenient web page.
Here you'll find all statutes in the Municipal Code pertaining to cycling in Chicago; ordinances from the Illinois Highway and Vehicle codes; downloadable documents such as maps for the lakefront trail, college campus bike maps, CTA's bike & Ride Guide to the city and the Chicago Bike map; and PDF copies of the League of Illinois Bicyclists state bicycle laws pamphlet and the Bicycle Rules of the Road from Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White's Office.
